Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I generally get one day of lectures, one for studying and the rest of my days working each week. In work, I'm given responsibility for projects and whilst I can always get help with them, they're not menial at all. I'm treated like any other member of my team, and help with research, design, testing and presentation of work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
As someone who learns in a much more hands-on way, this programme suits me really well. There isn't always a huge link between what I'm doing in work and what I'm learning in my lectures, but I really enjoy my work, and it's helped to remind me that I do enjoy engineering!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I've learnt a large range of skills due to my rotations around the company, including courses for CAD, electronics, sketching and testing software. Aside from official training, I've developed general skills for any job (such as presenting), and more in-depth engineering knowledge (such as learning how to use specific CFD software).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is new, so there is still some changes that are being made to it, but there is a great team dedicated to trying to sort these things out and support you.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots! We have mentors and managers in work, and generally the teams we work with are very keen to help us learn/give us advice. The programme team are also really attentive and try to make sure we have everything we need, from a wellbeing aspect as well as academic and workplace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
As Warwick is further away, it can be challenging for them to give us a lot of support. however, we do have some time set aside for them to help us, and lecturers are always happy to answer questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Generally, I don't think my qualification helps greatly with my job, although skills like presenting have been useful in both. As I start to study more concepts that I have more of an interest in however, I'm sure this will change.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Our apprenticeship group has a wide range of clubs, from football and climbing to cooking and origami. In work, there is also a lot to get involved with. There is annual summer and Christmas parties, and more clubs.
