Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis I will press substrate layers and glue onto carriers in a hot press. Ready to then be moved on and finished off in the woodshop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt through my training the art of cabinet/furniture making. Also, at work I have learnt how to work with veneer in different ways and developed my knowledge on veneering.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support from my employed when requested, often there have been meetings to catch up with where we are in our training.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive full support from my training provider in order to gain my qualifications. Any time help is needed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Practically, it doesn’t. This is because we do not work with solid wood at work which is what our training was. However, there have been many other skills like team working, communication etc that have helped.
