Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At the moment, I am in my first year of the apprenticeship so I am at college for the whole first year. At college, you complete a btec and a nvq. The college is not the best run however there a few really good tutors who will help you a lot.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme itself is a lot of work however it can be fun at times when you are with your colleges.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills which include turning and milling as well bench fitting. As well as that i have learnt how to assemble fluid power boards and electrical skills. Also we have done PLC.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme itself is well run and constructed and clear however the college ruins some of that aspect due to it being poorly run at times. However, they have been different circumstances this year leading to that.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We recieve a lot of support from our employers and we get a lot of visits from our manager frequently where he asks how we are doing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The tutors are really helpful, you will have the odd few who arent but the majority are really good at their job
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It is required that we do the qualification before we can do anything at plant so therefore the qualification helps us a lot.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
At the moment not being at plant I dont know as well as with the coronavirus pandemic not at the moment.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Joing this apprenticeship at 16 and straight from school has meant that I have had no previous substanial work experiance however it is really good and the fact the BMW hold apprentices in a high regard is reassuring during the times we are going through. You will be supported in this apprenticeship and it is a really good career path to join and to progress your career path in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
