Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Sat in two different departments and completed a variety of work, including legal research, document review, bundling, and creating an index.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful - everyone was very supportive and approachable, making all of the talks very interesting and enriching. I got a good sense of the practice areas, training and diversity and inclusion initiatives at Macfarlanes and am motivated to pursue a career at the firm.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was very supportive, caring, and approachable. From the trainees, early careers team, to the more senior lawyers at the firm, I felt welcomed and connected to the firm and was able to learn and ask questions.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight that I gained throughout the scheme - I felt that this experience opened my eyes in regard to the different pathways that I could explore in my legal career and some practice areas that I didn’t think of pursuing before, I would like to pursue in the future.

Be passionate and always inquisitive. Macfarlanes values people that are always willing to learn, are great team players, and are deeply motivated. Be engaged with all of the events and panels that the firm holds throughout the year and make connections with the lawyers at the firm.
