Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
In my first week, I sat in the firm’s Private Client department. In the second week, I spent time in the Corporate department. Every day, I attended different presentations delivered by the firm’s various departments such as Banking, Private Funds and Litigation. I also completed tasks such as drafting and research, and I received feedback from my supervisor. Additionally, I scheduled coffee chats with different fee earners to learn more about the firm.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very valuable to gain a deep insight not only into the business model of the firm and its USPs but also its culture.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Macfarlanes
I would recommend future applicants do deep research about the firm not only using the website but also by reaching out to people currently working at the firm. I would recommend combining research resources. I would also recommend that future applicants work on building their commercial awareness.
