Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
As the only student within the team, I helped with the day-to-day general auditing tasks which needed to be done, such as creating lead sheets and data entry. We would have regular catch-up calls within the team and they were always encouraging me to ask lots of questions. I was able to go into the office for one day despite the experience being online so it was great to understand the wider scope of audit.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful and gave a good view of what it would be like to work for the company. Being virtual, it was a bit harder to understand about the roles outside of audit as I did not come across anyone doing other work but I was able to meet a wide range of people within my department.

My accounting skills have developed- I did not know a lot about it at all but you learn quickly when seeing it firsthand. I have also learnt how to work more collaboratively within a team.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is very friendly and takes the time out of their day to talk to you and to answer any questions you have. They are very strong on collaboration and you very rarely have to complete tasks on your own without any guidance.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
There were times where some of the tasks were not as engaging as others, but overall I really enjoyed the programme. Being able to meet friendly colleagues and experience what it is like in the working world was really fun.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG
Just be yourself and ask lots of questions! And don't hesitate to apply just because you have never done accounting or don't think you have the right experience as this does not matter and they don't require you to have any prior knowledge what so ever. Most of the people who work at KPMG had no idea about anything accounting before they joined- there is so much more to the job.
