Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

- Liasing with HMRC on various client-related issues
- Drafting letters to HMRC
- Preparing presentations
- Working in teams to resolve tax-related issues for clients
- Keeping up to date with the changes in tax legislation
- Preparing tax returns
- Shadowing senior members of the tax department

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, it was an incredible experience. The team was very welcoming, and even though I had no prior tax knowledge when I started the internship, within four weeks, I was brought up to speed and felt confident in completing tasks on my own. By the end of my time at KPMG, I was able to keep up in briefings and offer my own insight on issues that clients were faced with.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I constantly received guidance and support from the team. They scheduled regular meetings where they would check-in on me and makesure I was busy and had enough work to complete.
