Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I would have some sessions organised by Graduate Recruitment on various things like trainee development/ brand and marketing at the firm. I'd also be invited to client calls/ meetings/ assigned work and tasks to get on with.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
They were really transparent with the trainee process and how people get their seats and the selection process. We were also assigned trainee buddies so we could get a good understanding of the job role and what they do on a day to day basis. We were also encouraged to reach out to other people at the firm so I learnt from lawyers at various levels who were more than happy to chat with me.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Drafting of different kinds of contracts and legal documents. I also learnt a bit of company law as I helped out on tasks which required this. I was able to develop my time management as we had quite a few things to do so had to manage our time well to make sure I didn't miss anything and was able to do my work to a good standard.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. We also had a couple of socials organised during the scheme so were able to chat with other vac schemers and other people on the scheme in a more informal setting too.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
It was really enjoyable and you could tell lots of time had gone into planning the scheme and the socials too. It was nice to also be in the office for some of it since we could see how people work together and we (the vac schemers) were able to properly meet and spend time with eachother.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BCLP
- Make sure that the application is tailored to the firm and that you have a clear reason/s why you're applying to the firm in particular. Think what differentiates it
- Also be personable and confident during the interview. For any group tasks make sure to not be arrogant or speak over people
