Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Generally, you spend most of the day working in your department. Each day, you may have 1 or 2 presentations about the firm's sectors/specific firm initiatives. You are actively encouraged to arrange your own meetings with other solicitors to widen your understanding of the firm. Generally, anything you express an interest in will be supported (e.g. I got involved in pro bono and netball).
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I gained a really thorough understanding through various presentations and discussions with fee-earners. You generally pick up a lot of information in team meetings/through osmosis.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone I met was very supportive and friendly. My Team specifically were really busy, so I always had a lot on and they were consistently available to help me/answer my questions.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the scheme. I feel like I met some fantastic people and gained a really thorough understanding of the firm's business structure and day-to-day work. You definitely get out of the scheme what you put in!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BCLP
Utilise the 2 weeks as much as possible, ask lots of people for coffee chats if you have a genuine interest in their work/department, ask loads of questions, be confident and friendly, ask for feedback.
