Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
During day 1 were introduced to the culture and values at Nomura, with training sessions from representatives from Echios. Day 2-4, we were introduced to 3 different business areas at Nomura - Global markets, CORP (tech, risk, ESG), Investment banking. Each of the days involved talks from business representatives, networking sessions and interactive activities. Some of my favorite activities were the trading game and the pitches
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was a really good opportunity to learn about all parts of Nomura and the roles that were available. The team structured it really well, in terms of having different representatives from alsmost all major divisions and subdivisions come in to sell us their respective roles. Along with this networking lunches and being assigned mentors was a great way to learn.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
During the week, I definitely developed a great understanding of all the roles at Nomura, with a breakdown of global markets and investment banking (areas which I am interested in). Along with this, during sessions with echios I learnt a lot of technical terminology and finance jargon which will be beneficial. Furthermore, I learnt ways to develop my personal brand and about presenting myself well

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company's cultures and values were aligned with the ones they pride to have on the website. All the employees radiated positive and encouraging energies which was really nice to see. Hearing from employees experiences working at Nomura and especially for how long reinforced this further. The flat heirachy within teams was again something that stood out to me, as this provides the perfect conditions in the early stages of my career to learn a lot

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the insight incredibly. There was so many opportunities to meet individuals from the organisation, and there was a mix of interactive group activities along with informative sessions that helped me build my technical knowledge. All the sessions were definitely beneficial for my future. Along with this there were a bunch of amazing individuals on the program with me, which made it even better

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
I would suggest, really understand the company and its values. Depending on the size, prevalence and roots of the organization the culture and working atmosphere differs. This is all important when considering if it's the right place for you. Along with this just show your true enthusiasm to be there
