Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We heard from speaker in tax, audit and assurance, and Deloitte’s networks. We also were taken through skills sessions on working on cases, presentations, and team working. We were split into groups of 8 to tackle a case that was an example of what Deloitte actually deal with on a day to day basis. We had to analyse meeting notes and financial statements, find the problems, create solutions and then present these to senior partners at Deloitte.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I was amazed to hear about how many opportunities exist at Deloitte, and how simple it can be to swap between specialisms in later career. I was also very excited to find out that this can be converted into a summer vacation scheme, and I can’t wait to return next year to learn even more.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Skill development was key. I learned more about team work in a professional setting, which is different to that of an academic setting which I am used to. I also learned more about presenting, using strategic pauses and slowing down talking speed to engage with the listener and really show knowledge and skill.

Culture was very welcoming. I was Interested to learn about all the different network, and how there really is something for everyone.

It was invaluable experience, and I got to network with those already working for Deloitte, as well as fellow students whose aspiration is to go into financial services.

Do it! It can dry your career up from day 1, networking with people that hopefully one day you’ll be working with. Spring into Deloitte offers so many options after completion, and really nurtures the talent it has brought in.
