Spring into Deloitte programme – Spring into Deloitte - Be Included, Inspiring Women - Audit & Tax - Virtual – United Kingdom - April-2025. Review

We started the session with a quick introduction. We then moved on to an overview of Deloitte, focusing on its cultures and core values. We had the opportunity to hear from members of various Deloitte networks. We then began working on a case study, where we developed key skills in analysing and probing information from a given piece of text.
On day 2, we heard from professionals working in different areas of audit and tax and had the opportunity to develop our presentation skills by pitching to senior members of Deloitte based on the case study we had been studying.

It was invigorating to learn about the business and the potential roles available. Although I had a brief understanding of what audit and tax entailed, hearing from Deloitte members about the particular business area they work in and how they came about choosing their designated area of work under audit assurance or tax, whether that be in portfolios or global markets, was fascinating to me. It helped me decipher and narrow down which business area, in particular, I may hope to work in one day.

I have learned plenty of new skills! My particular favourite was our session on presenting, where I learned the value of being confident and ensuring clarity and precision in what one says. Finally, being taught about the negative impact filler words can have on one's presentation was the most insightful. I realized I use these filler words a lot in my daily presentations.
I have also developed my analytical and problem-solving skills—the ability to be given information and discern risks and possible solutions based on it. Finally, applying the MECE model allowed me to analyse where there were overlaps and what issues were distinct and, therefore, a priority to focus on.

The company culture and general atmosphere were outstanding. Even though I was in awe to speak to such senior Deloitte members, they were kind and inspiring and gave us ever so much insight. As well as this, the HR team have been wonderful in guiding us through the structure of the day and ensuring we have plenty of breaks and a relaxing atmosphere by, e.g., playing some music to ensure we were able to make the most of such an incredible opportunity but also feel relaxed and energized between such activities!

I enjoyed my insight immensely. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and friendly, and I left with a myriad of knowledge. I collaborated with some fantastic peers and had the chance to improve myself and hone in on key skills I hope to take with me in the future. I cannot thank Deloitte enough for the privilege of such an opportunity. I only wish we could have seen the Deloitte office and met all the incredible people at Deloitte in person!
