Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I was able to meet professionals who gave me advice, and efficient insight into their route to Deloitte and any challenges they experience in their careers as well as enjoy. Presented to a panel of professionals about solutions and risks of not being careful with audit, assurance and tax and how to reduce the risks with Brightspark to help them flourish with their selling of solar panels to aim for net zero.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It definitely gave me a deeper insight into the world of accounting, as I wasn’t aware of how many roles were in this line of career. I have now realised accounting is not just sitting behind a desk but something larger and exciting.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I’ve learnt new skills on how to present confidently and to ground myself if I start feeling anxious, meaningful advice I recalled is to pause each time I am about to say a filler word when presenting as me as the speaker am the one to control the room hence I must show this through expressive body language to garner attention as well as speak concisely and fitting for my audience.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
There definitely is a strong culture of collaboration, and consideration for one’s colleagues such as hearing how supportive people are of mothers taking maternity leave, or coworkers feeling overwhelmed with workload and how the teams in Deloitte pride on collaboration, helping each other to bring innovation and efficiency.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the event a lot as it brought me a new perspective to life and how to go around balancing life as an accountant, the routes to becoming one, and how coworkers truly shape your new ways of thinking and approaching certain projects.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
I would say definitely use your CV to tailor the answers to the questions during the online assessment and learn how to link it to the company values, how they work, and practice basic maths as well as interviewing skills to look confident.
