Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The internship was held on a virtual platform with a daily agenda split into speeches, panels, and group sessions to discuss a case study. These were all relevant to working at EY and the specific service lines/ regions. On certain days, we were assigned sessions to chat with a mentor and a buddy. The mentor provided support for the case study and assessed our presentation on the said case study.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Due to the virtual nature and that the internship was only 2 weeks, we were working on a fictional case study, however, it was designed to mimic the work that an audit team would do. Although there was no real-life responsibility given, there was still relevant experience to be gained.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I very much enjoyed my internship experience. I was originally disappointed that it would not be a 6 week, in-person experience I was expecting. However, I was pleasantly surprised, and you could tell the team worked very hard to give us an interesting, helpful, and enjoyable internship experience. I also worried that I would not be able to form personal connections because of the shorter time period and virtual nature of the experience, but I met amazing people that I really bonded with.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to EY
The application process is long and quite tough, however, the experience is worth it. If you can prove you are an enthusiastic, team-player, who is driven and eager to learn you should be successful. Experience with a company like EY will be an amazing addition to your cv and will help with future grad job applications. Also, a great internship for those who do not study relevant subjects, it's not designed for accounting students only.
