Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Usually a lot of panel interviews and learning about the business in the mornings, you get to ask questions and learn a lot about what your specific service line does. In the afternoon you spend time doing a case study and you will be assigned to work in a group and present your findings at the end.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Unfortunately no. The internship was online so we interns were unable to visit and work in the offices. This meant we couldn't really meet our team so we were not given any real client work or specific training by seniors in our service line. We did a mock case study but we were blind with no knowledge while doing it.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
You get good exposure to working as part of a team of people that you've never worked with before and have to develop a relationship with. This includes delegation, meeting deadlines and time management. You also learn self discipline as you are working from home so you need to keep yourself focused.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
There was a lot of mentor/buddy sessions where we could ask employees at EY about their career and even for advice on the case study. There was a lot of talks and panel interviews which also allowed us to learn a lot about the business and how we should start thinking analytically.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Hard to tell as we were online and could not work in the office or within an actual team at EY. However, everyone I met seemed to be really nice and helpful and offered encouragement and advice. Overall, it seems as though EY has a good culture that encourages you to ask questions and be curious.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
It was a good experience. In a typical year the internship would have been longer and in offices which would obviously be better, but nonetheless I still managed to learn a lot about the company and the service line and it definitely made me think more seriously about what I want to do in my career.

What advice would you give to others applying to EY
There is the usual application process where you may need to take numerical and reasoning tests. If you are successful you will be invited to an assessment centre - here you will be required to work as part of a team on a quick situation and after you will be interviewed for an intern role.
