Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was on site most days working with the team. I had a lot of interaction with the client during my internship, playing an active role in the audit testing. I was able to be a part of a vast variety of sections of the audit, allowing me to gain a good understanding of what the role entails.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship, through interacting with the client to working on my own sections. However I was also supported when needed, and my team were always happy to answer any questions I had.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
This internship was a great opportunity to develop existing skills such as teamwork, communication, determination as well as developing many technical skills as well. I also had a lot of opportunity to interest with the client, therefore allowing me to develop more confidence over time.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a good amount of support throughout my internship. Everyone I came across throughout my time with BDO was always happy to help, whether that be asking questions or explaining sections of work to me. They were also happy to let me have my independence to allow me to learn, but they always made sure to check in every so often to ensure I was on track and confident in my work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The general atmosphere was very welcoming, with everyone wanting to help as much as they can. I have greatly enjoyed my time at BDO.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I greatly enjoyed my internship as I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of sections of the audit and had a hands on experience allowing me to learn on the job. The people I was working with were also very friendly and always happy to help, making the whole internship even more enjoyable.

I would encourage others to be themselves as you want to find the right company for you. With BDO's values being very important to them ensure you look them up and see if they align with you. Also look into the work BDO has done as it will amaze you the impact and reach they have.
