Tax Analyst Review

I assisted with work for clients, drafting advice, helping with compliance, researching topics, preparing reports and presentations. This included organising / managing deadlines and timelines, and researching complex areas of indirect tax in order to provide the correct advice to our clients, and drafting deliverables for various things like training sessions we would deliver, reviews of the clients processes for various taxes, and analysis of new scenarios businesses were looking to expand into.

Yes - I was treated no differently to graduates, which meant that I was given responsibility both to deliver a high level of work in my own drafts but also to manage timelines in projects and ensure that deliverables went out to clients when they needed to.

I've developed my business writing, learning to write professionally in order to deliver advice as concisely and clearly as possible.
I've developed my organisational skills, managing project deadlines and ensuring deliverables were received on time.
I've developed my research skills, and my ability to understand legislation to ensure we deliver correct answers and advice.
I've also developed teamworking skills, working closely alongside my team for the last year as well as the wider tax and legal sector within Deloitte.

I had a buddy assigned to me who was there to show me around the office and introduce me to the ways of working, as well as a people leader for catch-ups on goals and progress I was making during my time on placement.

The team I worked in was always ready to help and provide assistance whenever I was unsure how / what to do, and would take time at the start of projects to talk through what I needed to understand in order to deliver.

I enjoyed my placement and would look forward to returning to an office / culture like that.
