Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves testing the different funds held by pension schemes, testing the controls in place to mitigate risks such as fraud at pension schemes, and testing to see that pension schemes have produced their financial statements accurately.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given responsibility to carry out audit work on engagements without supervision.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I have developed lots of new skills. My time management skills have got alot better with having to manage a high workload and having to complete work on multiple audits at once. My attention to detail has also improved as I now know to look out for the little things when completing an audit.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was good. They promoted a hybrid working approach which meant that I could work from home three days a week which was very convenient but also was able to come into the office and see all of my colleagues allowing me to get good guidance from managers in person. They promoted rather flexible working hours as long as you were charging enough time and completing all the work.

What advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
Try and ask as many questions as possible and put your foot forward and try and get involved in as much as possible. You will learn the most by doing this. I would also recommend trying to meet as many new people as you can as that will make the office days more enjoyable.
