Industrial Placement Student Review

My current project role is as a Business Analyst. Some of tasks that I'm involved in on a day-to-day basis:
- Helping more experienced BAs write User Stories that represent features in the client deliverable
- Attending meetings that touch upon various process steps within the project progress
- Validating defects on the client platform based on my current knowledge of the platform
Additionally, I'm also part of other internal teams that do internal Deloitte work. Here are some of the tasks that I'm involved in:
- Delivering presentations/workshops
- Doing research online
- Sending out communications via Email, Teams, etc

Yes I have been given much responsibility during my placement. While it may be hard to get it in the beginning, however as soon as you show initiative and capability, there shouldn't be any reason why you wouldn't get extra responsibilities.
I was responsible to taking care of many deliverables across my teams, some of which include:
- Health & Wellbeing newsletter
- GenAI internal Hub
- AI-related communications
- Several Excel trackers
- Working with a SVS student and helping them understand my role and Deloitte better

Yes, I've had the chance to develop my skills. The main way I developed them was through the training and certifications opportunities offered to me through Deloitte. Here are some examples of training I've done:
- Using Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence at a more advanced level
- Machine Learning concepts
- Utilising Generative AI and LLMs
Additionally, I was able to hone my skills through practical experience in my projects:
- How to create and deliver successful presentations
- How to write in a business language
- Collaborating in larger teams

I have received very good support and guidance during my placement. I had a manager personally assigned to me that was always willing to respond to any questions I had. Additionally, every team I was part of was very supportive and friendly, thus I was never afraid to ask for any help.
We also had multiple communication channels with the early experience team and we had several events across the year that kept us well informed about the placement scheme.

The company culture and general atmosphere is super friendly. I feel very comfortable talking to anyone in the company - whether they are in my team or someone in a totally different department. Everyone seems to be very approachable and willing to help.
There have been many social events, which allowed me to meet new people all the time. Thus, I have built a network of people I could always reach out to and did not feel a stranger at Deloitte at all.

I have very much enjoyed my placement at Deloitte. I had the chance to participate in 2 projects and work with 2 different clients/environments, which allows me to have a better understanding of how a real work environment is (and also build extra experience!).
Additionally, I had multiple chances to learn - via online, offline courses or even on the project. I believe the skills gained will be very valuable for me in the future.
Finally, I have met many interesting and wonderful people, which have helped me get as much as possible from this experience and make it as nice as possible.
