Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day starts with a 'stand-up', where the progress you made the day before and plan of action for the day to come is discussed with the team. Your day varies greatly depending on the team you are assigned to. Each team member is given a certain area of the audit that is there responsibility. As a placement student, you are treated the same as a Grad.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, you are treated similarly to how a Graduate would be. Of course, your work is always reviewed by senior members of the team, but it feels like the work you are doing is your responsibility.

The skills I'd say have most improved are communication, work-load management, work-place people skills and MS excel.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
You are given a second year 'buddy' for the year who you naturally have an informal relationship with - they can be the first port of call for any question that come up. You are also allocated a people leader - who I had monthly catch-ups with to discuss personal progress. This will generally be a manager.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I would say it was good. I felt comfortable that I could be myself in the team pretty much straight away. As a relatively inexperienced member of the team, it felt like people at all grades were accessible and did not mind giving up some time to help with work or just have a catch-up.

Make sure to throw yourself at all opportunities, both work related and socially. There is such a huge network at Deloitte that can be used to your benefit.
