At the start of my placement i did not have much work or responsibilities but i have found as the years have gone on there has been more work and responsibility that has come.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have develped my communication skills as i have had to start speaking to many different planners from different backgrounds. And also having to speak in meetings with multiple people on has helped me develop my communication and public speaking skills. I have also developed my organisational skills as i have had to keep to deadlines and make sure i keep track of the weeks work that i have already done.

I received a lot of guidance however at times there was minimal and i had to develop my skills mainly on my own.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have enjoyed the placement overall however i found the start difficult due to lack of work and wasnt sure if i could stay the whole duration. I also found the finacial start was a unfair at times as i started to develop and do the same or more work as my peers but getting paid substantially less.

What advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail
Be patient and be able to take responsibility on your own. Also be able to communicate with many different people and be willing to learn as i found there was a steep learning curve
