Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The program included several talks from women working at Deloitte, and they outlined their experiences working in the firm. We took part in some team-building activities, and got to meet and talk to more employees one-on-one at a networking event hosted by the company in the evening. On the second day, we participated in a real-world case study which we created a proposal of changes we would advise, and then presented this to several partners at Deloitte.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Many of the talks we received from women within the firm were hugely insightful in terms of how career progression works at the firm, and what different paths are available for graduates. We had a talk from one woman who was a partner at Deloitte, and she explained the benefits and support that Deloitte offers to women when it comes to starting a family alongside work, and how there are several opportunities in this scenario.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt several skills from this internship. The most valuable being the ability to work alongside several other people who I may not have crossed paths with if not for the internship. When working through the case study a lot of people in my group had very strong opinions, and this meant that we all had to learn how to collaboratively bring all of our ideas together to create a cohesive proposal combing everyone's ideas.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I was very impressed by the company culture from what I experienced on the internship. As well as having several talks about work at Deloitte, we also had a few about the support and community the company offers. We had a few different representatives from religious groups, and other minority groups discussing the events they hold across the whole firm, as well as specific support for people from those groups. This was very interesting and allowed us to understand the company culture.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at Deloitte. The other women who had been selected were lovely, and all of the Deloitte employees made us feel very welcome. I enjoyed that we were able to experience a real-life case study, because it meant the program felt more interactive, and it was a nice mix with the talks which provided us with some very useful information if we did want to take the next step towards working for Deloitte.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
I would say to be yourself during the application process, particularly for the video parts. Deloitte seems to be a very inclusive and welcoming company, and therefore they are looking for people who hold the same values. If successful, in an internship that is only two days, I would also recommend getting involved as much as possible in the activities and team-building tasks that are given to you, in order to fully make the most of the experience.
