Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Extremely varied but you can expect:
- communicating with HMRC to chase up certain pieces of information
- writing letters to HMRC, clients and third parties - covering letters, reference letters, information request letters, etc.
- Researching questions that clients may have
- rolling forward and/or reformating excel spreadsheets

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes without a doubt - especially at Deloitte, the teams you will work with get you stuck in on the first day - just make sure to also show initiative and curiosity. They make an effort to throw you in the deep end but with a lot of support, deepening your learning experience.

A lot of support - all questions were answers and no one made me feel stupid (even if I asked silly questions), everyone was very approachable and incentivised you to reach out for help whenever you needed

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Brilliant - completely different to the cliche idea of what corporate is - everyone is friendly, you make friends easily and no obvious toxic competition between colleagues.

Just do it! Make sure you take the time to refine your resume/CV, in interviews show enthusiasm and curiosity to learn more, and make sure to show and not tell.
They don't care if you just tell them you have teamworking skills - show them!
Even if you are not from a finance/accounting background, don't let that hinder you from applying - Deloitte just want people that are eager to learn, take on feedback, takes initiative and works well within their teams.
