Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role was to help out with various different projects in my team. The team gets involved with a wide array of projects. Furthermore, my main role was to assist with these reports and draft them so we can then send them out to clients. In addition, there are internal projects that I helped on such as a financial year results/moving forward meeting.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given gradually more responsibility as the internship progressed. As my soft and technical skills developed I was getting involved in a lot more client work while initially I was involved with more training and network. I felt this was done really well as it eased me into the internship very well.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt new skills, such as communication within an office. I have also improved my technical knowledge required for the role by getting involved with projects and speaking to different people. Furthermore, I have learnt what is required in the role and the importance of meeting deadlines and executing work to a consistent high quality.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
There was a lot of support and guidance during the internship. Each intern was assigned a buddy who was a recent graduate to guide them through the internship and support them with initial queries. This was really helpful to have someone close to your age help you with this. In addition, interns were assigned a people leader who made sure we got involved with projects and that we set out objectives at the start of the internship. This was a weekly check-in, which again this support and guidance was really helpful.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture and general atmosphere was really good. Everyone was super friendly in the office and more than happy to help and to also answer any questions that interns had. Furthermore, there are regular socials which help you to get to know other team members better. The general atmosphere was nice, with everyone getting involved with their own work but also more than happy to chat socially.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed the internship a lot. It was great to meet a lot of new people, both interns and people working at the company and also to get stuck in with client and institutional work. The work that I did was also very interesting and varied so it was not monotonous. There was adequate time to get to know people outside of work better, with different catch-ups and social events.

What advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
I would definitely recommend others to apply for a role at Deloitte. I would recommend that they research Deloitte's key values and ensure they align with these. Furthermore, I would recommend they are comfortable in reaching out and communicating with different people and ensuring they are a people's person. In addition, I would recommend they research the specific role within the company they are applying for and familiarise yourself with what you may think typical work within that role will be.
