Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day, I engage on a variety of client projects to help deliver the best possible tax solutions for the client. This may include research, drafting of reports, data collection and collation as well as actively engaging within client meetings.
Projects are often to come up with tax efficient solutions for the needs of clients. Do not confuse this with tax minimising as there are times where minimising tax is not the goal. We help clients, rather, pay the right tax. These could be on transactions, M&A, Transfer Pricing, VAT... and much more.
Throughout the entire time, I also had a case study to work on that was to be presented to some directors/partners.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, you are given meaningful work that will make a genuine contribution to providing the best possible deliverable to the client. This is not to say that you are given your own project to lead and drive as that simply would not be feasible in the 4-6 weeks you are here especially when everything you see and hear is brand new to you.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My knowledge base of tax has drastically and improved with the work that I have completed. I also feel as though I have become more confident talking to and presenting to people due to the number of meetings that one attends during these summer vacation schemes.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company culture is very friendly and amicable at all levels. They adopt a 'dress for your day' dress code. That is effectively to say that if you have important client meetings then dress more appropriately, otherwise you can be dressed a little more relaxed.
