Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given the same responsibilities that a permanent or full time employee in the team had. This gave me the opportunity to grow and learn from the team and also made me feel motivated as I was trusted with these tasks. A lot of the reports I did were consumed by key stakeholders so I was glad I could make a valuable impact.

Every single person in my team was happy and willing to support me during my placement. I could always ask for help or ask any questions and someone would be happy to help me with this! I also had people at hand that were able to help me which was very useful.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is very much centred around creating a supportive and welcoming environment. There is a strong emphasis on diversity and bringing ideas together which is shown through the employee network groups and the fact that ideas pitched by juniors and interns were still considered and looked at by more senior people.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I absolutely loved my placement and am definitely hoping to come back to UBS. The culture is excellent and the strong focus on teamwork and inclusivity is one of the main reasons that I would like to come back. The work I got to do here was meaningful and allowed me to make a key contribution as key stakeholders consumed my reports and analysis commentary.

What advice would you give to others applying to UBS
I would say to be yourself as it’s important for assessors to see what kind of person you are and if you would be a good fit for the team but also ensure that your technical knowledge is strong as this will really show your passion for the role!
