Global Markets division spring week Review

We had many talks by professionals in many sectors and divisions. We spent the first week getting acclimated. We learned about Goldman Sachs from the bottom up. We learned how Goldman functioned, how they make money, and where each division fits into the bigger picture. We spent both weeks networking and learning. The second week was focused on group projects and teamwork, with more free time to network with the other interns and to get a clearer insight into the specific divisions.

It was really fulfilling due to the breadth and depth of the experience. I learned how each element fit together and how to understand the business. I now consider Goldman Sachs extremely complicated and intricate. There is so much attention to detail that I would not have noticed had I not had an insight into the company and how it works. It was a great experience that I would repeat if I had the choice.

I have learned the importance of teamwork and how to optimise my time.
I learnt to trade through a simulation and to find order in chaos through the chaotic and hight intensity lifestyle.
I learned how to financially analyse a trade and how to call on the skills of individual members of a team and other individuals that are senior to me such that I can form a holistic opinion on a topic of my choice.

The company culture was extremely competitive and supportive. It allows people to reach their highest or maximum potential as everyone strives for excellence.The atmosphere seemed comfortably intense and fulfilling. It was not intimidating in the slightest and was extremely warm if seen in the right light. So many individuals went out of their way to speak to me, as an intern. This speaks volumes for the level of support that we would receive as a new hire.

The insight really could not have been better. I learned so much, met so many great interns and formed great relationships with employees and mentors. This insight has sold the company in terms of the vision, the culture, the atmosphere and the overall impression. The insight has also sold the concept of the finance industry due to the highly intense but simultaneously highly rewarding lifestyle of employees, managers and the like. It truly was remarkable.
