Commerical / Sales Intern Review

No two days at the same at JDE, my workload was varied and increased throughout the year aswell as my responsibilitites. My main tasks were to manage the JDE Professional Price Tracker and report any changes within the market to the wider business. Help to manage our wholesalers, assiting in the day-to-day management of their accounts, this would include forecasting, customer visits / negotiations, event management and admin based tasks.

My workload and thus my responsibility increased throughout my placement. At the start of my placement my role was more admin based but as I progressed through my placement I took on new tasks and therefore new responsibilitites. I would indepently represent JDE at several external events including trade shows, Ra Ra days and meet the member days. I was also held accountable for my actions with my forecast accuracy and bias measued for example.

JDE immersed me into the face pased world of FMCG. I was able to use the knowledge, theory and skills I learn at University to excel in my role at JDE while gaining new skills too. As I was customer facing I imporved my interpersonal skills and negotiaton skills. Forecasting also opened my eyes into data analysis, learning how to spot trends, patterns and how this shapes future planning. I also improved my general business acumen skills.

My support and guidance at JDE is fantastic. Upon joining the business JDE held a induction for myself and the other interns, this immersed us into the world of coffee and the culture at JDE. The business also held barista workshops and factory tours for our cohort what enabled us to understand more about the business and the impact our work had. In my team I was given lots of support and guidance on how to complete my tasks, I found everyone at the business very approachable and associates are always happy to answer any questions if needed.

I found associates at JDE to be helpful, outgoing and friendly, espically towards new starters and interns. Associates are given the support they need to grow at the business while being held accountable for their actions. Associates are always happy to grab a coffee with you and have a chat with you about any support or advice you need while at the business. As interns we also had our student charity what was great.

I had a great time at JDE, meeting so many new great people, while learning so much along the way.
