Intern Analyst Review

My role was based within the International Tax team and I got to experience two sub teams within this area of Finance. The Fist team was Corporate Tax which was very technical and excel based, I was reviewing and preforming calculations for Tax returns on our various branches within EMEA.
The next team I was in was called Transfer Pricing where I had the opportunity to gain better insight into the company and build local files for our various branches in the EMEA that detailed a variety of information such as benchmarks and market information.

I believe that I was given a lot of responsibility handling various large pieces of work such as the tax returns as well as building a Transfer Pricing Threshold tracker with the APAC team for APAC countries.
I was also given the responsibility of getting Alteryx for my team and developing a workflow process to simplify one of our processes. I was also tasked with teaching the use of Alteryx to a fellow team member.

I have been able to develop my lots of technical skills within the Corporate Tax team where I was mostly using Excel thus allowing me to gain hard skills there. I was also had the opportunity to take part in building workflow processes on Alteryx which has developed my data analytics skills and data preparation skills.
Networking has also allowed me to build up my soft skills such as communication and working within a team has further developed my teamwork skills.

During my time in my team I received an abundance of support from my fellow team by helping me along every step of the way and teaching about the procedures and processes of our team and outside of that I was able to receive support from fellow employees from various business lines within Wells Fargo who offered to sit down and have chats with me to discuss what their work was like and what their experience at Wells Fargo has been like as well as provide shadowing sessions during my internship.

I felt very welcomed and accommodated during my internship by both my team and the my senior employees. Everyone was very open to having chats with me about themselves and their lines of business, I felt very comfortable any question I had on my mind. All of the social events were also very nice as everyone was very relaxed and open creating a nice environment for someone who is just starting out on their career.

I found my internship to highly enjoyable from the first week, where I and my fellow interns got to speak to various business heads , help out a charity, played games and receiving various training sessions. The experience was very valuable and it didn't end there following the rest of the internship I had the chance to attend different social events some from the EMEA Black Connections ERN, social events held my our HR caretakers and social events within my division which were all very nice and opportunities for me to develop my network. To conclude it has been a very fun time here.
