Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Shadowing seniors at the office, attending client meetings as well as team meetings to get an understanding of what the process is to claim tax relief for clients and better understand the regulations in place. Worked on a few projects that involved formatting, entering and checking data in excel sheets as well as separating different purchases into their respective tax codes. Also got the chance to network and meet other interns and workers across other divisions and sectors at Deloitte

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

A fair bit of responsibility given the fact that I am an intern and knew next to nothing about capital allowances and tax, especially since it is a niche department

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

The main new skill that I learnt was becoming familiar with using excel spreadsheets, and learnt many different shortcuts that helped me save time and become more efficient when working on projects I had. As well as this, I built my confidence in presenting and engaging with senior colleagues on a range of topics which helped massively with my communication and teamworking ability.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I had support along every step of the way, whether it was the availability of my buddy and team leader, or anyone else within the team as they were all open and friendly if I needed any help/guidance
