Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Joined the desk GM division in Nomura for 9 weeks in the London office. Had a week of financial markets training, various trading simulations and public speaking training. Worked on a python project involving different competencies : pandas, dash etc.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I had a lot of responsiiblity as I worked on a project by my own.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
The internship was extremely enriching. I learnt how does the financial industry works as a whole, how different insititutions interact. I also learnt how to use pandas and Dash in python.

Everyone was extremely helpful and supportive. From HR to the buddys to the managers and other people in the floor who were approachable and very helpful.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very healthy place to work in. The cantine provides healthy food and there is access to a gym and other facilities and events to have a healthy workplace.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my internship from day 1 to the end. The HR did a great job organizing trainings, overviews and social events. It made the intership a great experience.

What advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
If you are applying to the wholesal digital office, learn python, show that you are willing to think and solve the problems, even if it is difficult. The most important thing is to have the atitude of researching a solution and not surrendering to the hard problems.
