Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was employed within the Structured Finance division where I assisted the team during live deals, helping with making power-point slides, researching various companies and markets, modelling certain debt structures and more. In addition to this, I also worked on an individual project over the length of the internship and presented it during the penultimate week of the internship

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given quite a lot of responsibility as I was given tasks that had tight deadlines for clients during live deals

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt and developed many new skills, primarily my excel skills when it comes to modelling, my power-point skills, my social skills when communicating work within a team, my ability to work under pressure and work a large amount of hours efficiently.

I received a great amount of support and guidance during my internship. Everyone was willing to answer my questions and they also sent me a lot of material for learning how to model, learn the key terms etc...

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was nice and friendly, everyone was willing to give up their spare time to talk to you or help you with you tasks. Everyone did their best to make us feel welcome and provided good feedback that wasn't unnecessarily mean or rude

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I enjoyed my internship very much. It was very challenging, but I enjoyed working within my team that I was placed in, and found the work interesting and mentally stimulating. In addition to this, the team helped me to get a good exposure to how deals were structured.
