- Supporting members of the team with any work/project they're working on e.g. updating forms, spreadsheets, etc, for the new financial year
- Analysing data and spreadsheets

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I did not have much responsibility at the beginning of the internship but as time went on I had more. At the start I was not assigned tasks of much importance but I learnt a lot from them. As the weeks went on I was assigned more important tasks and worked closely with others in my team assisting them with their tasks.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had a lot of support. As an intern you have buddies who support you with almost everything. You're free to ask them anything - big or small e.g. how to fill in a timesheet, where a meeting room is, etc. You also have a counsellor who you meet with regularly and talk about how the internship is going, if you're having any issues, and they will support you. I also had a lot of support from members of my team from different levels (graduates, seniors, managers) when working on client projects.

How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone is very friendly, sociable and happy to help you if you need anything - especially with interns as they understand we're new to the company and will need support.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed it a lot as I worked on actual client work. It was enjoyable working with a team and having real responsibilities as opposed to doing meaningless tasks with no real importance. I was the only intern on my team, which was the case for most interns and this was fine, but I would have liked to have had more opportunities to interact with other interns.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to EY
- Prepare well for the assessment centre/online assessments - do practise online tests (just Google numerical, situational judgement, and psychometric tests)
- Learn about EY before doing any interviews and understand the work they do, with a particular focus on the service line you are applying for
- Apply even if you think the course you are studying is not relevant to the role you are applying for - a lot of the time it does not really matter e.g there are interns studying courses such as Biology, French, Spanish, etc.
