Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a business analyst, I bridge the gap between our software developers and the client's requirements. Day-to-day, we run through daily standups, reviewing project progress and delivery as well as writing tickets and solving problems.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Placement students are treated the same as someone joining the firm on a grad scheme. I was given a lot of responsibility as well as many opportunities to give my own input and express my ideas.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed strong communication skills from regular client contact. I've also learnt to take responsibility for my work. For technical skills, I have developed a better understanding of programming languages such as Javascript, SQL, as well as a better overall understanding of front-end and back-end development.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
There's a good structure/system for support and guidance at Deloitte. Everybody has a people leader who is responsible for their wellbeing and speaking on their behalf, and there are many channels to refer to for help. I found that project-specific management is also very friendly and they are always happy to support you throughout the year.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Deloitte has a welcoming work culture where you are heard and you can always ask for help. It's easy to speak to anyone, regardless whether they are a fellow new joiner or a partner at the firm. There are also frequent socials at the firm that are often good fun where you can socialise with your coworkers.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement as it was a good introduction to the consulting industry and corporate world. I was given real responsibility throughout the year and had many opportunities to develop key skills and take part in professional development.
