Intern Review

I was able to participate in daily meetings, carry out various tasks in order to meet my deadlines and be proactive in seeking out tasks from team members as well as being able to work independently. My projects involved the audit of football clubs to consulting firms and being able to visit these client sites in person.

We were greatly encouraged to explore other parts of the business, including other service lines and how Deloitte exercises its values through volunteering and its impact on the wider community. The employees I had contacted across the firm were very welcoming and open to speak to me to share their experiences and thoughts on each of their business divisions. I'd say it was very easy to speak to a range of people here at Deloitte.

I have been able to develop my ability to adapt to new software systems and pick this up relatively quickly, as well as improving my financial knowledge and improving my proficiency in Excel. The multitasking and time management skills I had to be able to refine was mandatory for meeting expectations on this internship.

My experience of Deloitte was different to what I had expected. Despite it having an amazing reputation as one of the Big Four, the working culture is very friendly, diverse and supportive. It is clear that the firm is invested in its people and in drawing in new talent. They had also granted us access to headspace so there is a big emphasis on mental health awareness. As well as this, there were many socials where we were able to network and connect with other people from the business outside the office.

I'd say I enjoyed the scheme due to the fact that I was learning a lot (but to be able to do this you need to be proactive about asking team members to be given tasks) and also meeting a lot of people. Outside of work, there were many other things to get involved in, for example womens health sessions, meditations and fun runs!
