Job Description
The Project Analyst 12-month industrial placement will give you the skills to work with some of the best people in the industry. You will get exposure to NESO’s major projects, influence change and transformation across NESO to help achieve the UK’s clean power and net zero transition.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your placement, you’ll work with colleagues across Major Programme Delivery, Change and Transformation to build a broad understanding of how complex programmes are planned, governed and delivered. You’ll be supported to contribute to real work, develop your confidence in a professional environment and build core skills in delivery, stakeholder engagement, planning, reporting, problem solving and continuous improvement.
You could be:
- Supporting major programmes and projects by helping teams plan activity, track milestones, manage actions and report clearly on scope, time, quality, risks and outcomes.
- Working with Programme and Project Managers to coordinate delivery teams, prepare governance materials, capture decisions and follow up on key risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and actions.
- Helping teams use consistent delivery templates, standards and ways of working, while learning how good governance supports successful programme delivery.
- Contributing to programme health checks, assurance and lessons learned, helping teams understand what is working well and where delivery can be strengthened.
- Supporting business change activity by helping colleagues understand the impact of change, prepare communications, engage stakeholders and support the adoption of new processes or ways of working.
- Working with Transformation colleagues to help turn strategic priorities into practical plans, updates and outputs that support delivery across NESO.
- Bringing together information from different programmes and initiatives to create clear updates, packs and summaries for teams and stakeholders.
- Taking part in workshops, stakeholder sessions and planning meetings, capturing key points and helping turn discussion into practical next steps.
- Supporting performance reporting by gathering data, reviewing trends, preparing simple dashboards or summary packs, and helping teams understand progress against key milestones.
- Building your understanding of how NESO delivers complex transformation, while developing confidence and transferable skills in project delivery, change management, stakeholder engagement, analysis, communication and continuous improvement.
