We are a team of 16 engineers from a range of different backgrounds, responsible for the Wing, Fuel System, and Landing Gear of the best-selling A320 family of aircraft.

Our work involves continuously developing the A320 family while looking after a global fleet of over 10,000 aircraft. We accomplish this by collaborating with teams across all parts of Airbus, giving you a unique opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience within the company.

What you will be doing:

As an intern in the UK Single Aisle Chief Engineers Team you will:

  • Gain in depth knowledge of aircraft development and see how the decision making processes works, in the aerospace industry;
  • Have flexibility and autonomy working on tasks across a range of disciplines through the support of the Fuel Systems, Wing Structure and Landing Gear Chief Engineering team;
  • Work on multiple projects with a large degree of variability, and demonstrate a quick learning curve and serious involvement in our team from day 1.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential:

  • Studying towards a degree with a numerate degree;
  • Be a competent user of Google Office;
  • Have proficient oral and written communication skills;
  • Be able to collaborate well within a team;
  • Interest in aircraft and passionate about learning;
  • Work on project teams in a way which is consistent with the company values;
  • Comfortable with taking the initiative and working independently to meet team objectives.
  • Problem solving mentality and a positive approach to finding solutions.

Useful:

  • Prepared to travel between UK and European sites, if required;
  • Additional languages;
  • Student membership of a relevant Institution (e.g., Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS); Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE); Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE); Institute of Material, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), or similar).

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
