About us:

The Airbus Engineering Wing Repairs organization (SRM) is part of the wider repairs organization giving “Follow the Sun” support to keep our fleet of aircraft flying with customers around the world. There are teams around the world to support this, but this role will be based in Filton, Bristol.

Wing Repairs (SRM) covers the whole of the Airbus commercial fleet, from the remaining A300’s flying to the latest A350. The Wing Repairs organization also collaborates in the design of the latest aircraft to ensure designs are repairable, along with research into the latest manufacturing methods such as additive layer to create repair parts.

You will work with a team of highly experienced Engineers across a variety of disciplines to gain experience of Repair Design, Static Stress and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance.

What you will be doing:

As an Intern Engineer you will develop the core skills needed in the wing business and your future development.

  • Static Stress analysis, from first principles to Fine Element Modelling;
  • Fatigue and Damage Tolerance;
  • Design – CATIA tools, configuration management and Digital Mock Up;
  • Digitalisation - automating processes using coding skills.
  • Project Management through working with Repair teams on a variety of projects;
  • Business and Financial knowledge;
  • Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people, and nationalities;
  • Customer focus through working with our Customer Service organization.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying or Studied a degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Good knowledge of coding and data analysis techniques;
  • Passionate about Aerospace and the challenges of the civil aircraft market;
  • Are sensitive to clients needs and can develop good client relationships;
  • Naturally curious and excited to explore;
  • Excited to work in a dynamic and changing environment;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills;
  • Collaborate well within a team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
