In Summer of 2027 we are hiring an intern to work in our London office in the Public & Government Affairs Department (PGPA). The placement will be for 8 weeks sometime between June to early September.

The successful candidate will be given opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the work of the department, including:

• Political and parliamentary monitoring of developments relevant to Valero’s European business.
• Policy research and analysis on topics related to the refining and downstream fuels sector.
• Mapping key stakeholders across Valero’s European business.
• Support stakeholder outreach, including assisting in planning site visits and external meetings.
• Preparing tailored briefings for internal and external audiences.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills and Qualities

• A demonstrable interest in UK and EU politics, policy or government affairs.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent research skills and close attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

Academic Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
• Graduation date May 2028 onwards preferred (to ensure internship relevance).

Eligibility

Able to commute to Canary Wharf.

Able to work 35 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
