Business Operations Assistant Higher Apprenticeship - Wayv Talk and Broadband

Wayv Talk and Broadband for Business is a fast-growing telecommunications provider delivering broadband, voice, mobile, I.T and connectivity solutions to SMEs throughout the UK.

Overview:

The Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting day-to-day telecom operations, ensuring smooth coordination between suppliers, engineers, customers, and internal support teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding new customers, gathering information on customer requirements, planning and booking installations.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Handle broadband orders (SoGEA, FTTP, leased lines), track supplier tickets, and chase updates including civil works.
  • Liaise with engineering, support and accounts teams to ensure smooth installations and service transitions.
  • Ensure customers are fully set up prior to installation, including adding numbers to platforms and confirming service readiness.
  • Provide customers with regular updates on porting dates, broadband installation/survey progress, cease completion, and settlements.
  • Submitting number ports, monitoring progress, updating customers, and liaising with suppliers.
  • Chase suppliers for updates on ports, broadband orders, civil work, and open tickets.
  • Ensure all equipment is ordered and delivered to site prior to installation.
  • Maintain email folders.
  • Create, manage, and send Docusign agreements and other installation paperwork.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate engineering notes for daily jobs, installations, and maintenance visits.
  • Log cases/tickets from inbound calls across support, sales, and operations.
  • Meet onboarding KPI’s and OTD.

Desirable skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills for customers, suppliers, and internal interactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ticketing platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced telecom/operations environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Operations: 2 years (required)
  • Experience working in operations, administrative, or service‑delivery role (industry experience is beneficial but not essential — full training will be provided).
  • Basic understanding of service‑related processes such as order handling, account updates, or coordinating with suppliers/partners.
  • Familiarity with general technical or service terminology (training will cover all role‑specific terms).
  • Experience with customer onboarding processes and/or using digital signing platforms such as Docusign (or similar tools).

Entry requirements:

  • A Level 3 qualification plus 12+ months of work experience
  • A business-related degree (e.g. business, finance, economics, maths)
  • A non-business-related degree plus 6+ months of work experience
  • Existing staff with 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
  • If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week, 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

  • Sheffield S11 8TF: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
