Job Description

Financial Accounting Placement 2026

What is Travelport?

Our internships are designed for students pursuing a placement year during the third year of their undergraduate studies.

Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings. Plane, car or hotel. You name it, we do it. Our technology is used to book that magical family holiday, infamous bachelorette party or long overdue school reunion. While we can't solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we're looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.

Our internships are designed for students pursuing a placement year during the third year of their undergraduate studies. At Travelport, we offer driven and ambitious individuals like you the chance to take part in a truly immersive and impactful experience- where your skills are put to work on meaningful projects that make a real difference!

Annually, we run a 13-month (July – July) internship program comprised of four pillars:

  • The Job - You’ll get the opportunity to dive into the world of finance and specialize in tax, general controllership or treasury. Also, you will have the opportunity to shadow various departments, allowing you to gain valuable insights and determine the career you may want to pursue in the future.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility – You’ll have the opportunity to give back to the community by fundraising and volunteering for both local and global charities alongside your fellow interns.
  • Learning and Development – You’ll receive training sessions designed to support your personal and professional development while also equipping you with industry specific skills.
  • ‘Intern’preneurship’ (see what we did there?) – You’ll have the opportunity to develop solutions to real business problems which Travelport has and present your ideas to the Senior leadership team and/or external companies.

Why Travelport:

  • A global team: Work with teams across the globe; @ Travelport, the world is your oyster.
  • Work flexibility: We’re not gymnasts but we’re pretty flexible and hybrid working is the norm (2-3 days per week in office).
  • Career growth: Our collaborative work culture means you will never be bored offering you lots of opportunities for learning and upskilling.
  • Our amazing People: Search for # lifeattravelport posts on LinkedIn to learn and see more about us!

The Financial Accounting Internship:

13 months, full-time, office based, July 2026 – July 2027

We have several opportunities in our accounting team across Treasury, Group Controllership, General Ledger & Tax. You will be sitting within one of these finance teams gaining insight into how a finance environment operates in a dynamic tech company.

You’ll play a pivotal role in producing the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close for the entire Travelport company. You’ll also interact and collaborate with multiple internal finance teams, as well as external auditors, allowing you to gain exposure and experience across the whole finance community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the resolution of month end accounting issues.
  • Ensure the reconciliation of intercompany transactions across the group, to certify all imbalances are resolved.
  • Support in the preparation of supporting information and reconciliations for the company’s external financial statements.
  • Assist in recording the journals for complex accounting transactions.
  • Be responsible for accounting certain treasury, tax, corporate and administrative functions/costs each month.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors to support the audit of the Travelport financial results, as part of the preparation of the Company’s Consolidated quarterly and annual financial statements.

Who we are looking for in this role:

Studying towards a degree in the related field is always useful, but not necessary. If you thrive in team environments, take initiative, stay composed and organized, and bring passion to your work- then this might be the internship for you!

  • Clear communication skills – You can express ideas clearly and confidently, both in writing and in conversation.
  • Sharp attention to detail – You take pride in producing high-quality work and spotting the small things that make a big difference.
  • Organized and reliable – You’re great at managing multiple tasks, staying on top of priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Results-focused – You like seeing progress, hitting goals, and making a real impact through your work.
  • Collaborative spirit – You work well with others, from delivery teams to senior leaders, and know how to build strong working relationships.

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you everything you need to know for you to be successful in your role!

The hiring process:

1st step: Your CV application

2nd step: A take-home recorded interview for you to complete in your own time (we will send you the link)
