Who we are

Glencore is one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities that advance everyday life.

Through a network of assets, customers and suppliers that spans the globe, we produce, process, recycle, source, market and distribute the commodities that support decarbonisation while meeting the energy needs of today.

We provide people the opportunity to develop their expertise and the confidence to grow their careers.

The Glencore 2026 Industrial Placement Programme

Designed to accelerate your career in the commodities trading, technology, engineering, or environmental science spheres, this 12-month programme gives talented undergraduates exposure to the world-class people and careers on offer at Glencore.

This is a fast-paced placement in our London office. You will be given your own areas of responsibility and have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the business from day one.

By the end of the programme, you will have developed strong skills in your chosen function. You will also be equipped with the highest level of professionalism, personal ownership and commercial aptitude – skills that are essential to future careers at Glencore.

The Project Engineering Placement

The team’s projects are predominantly based in Africa and Brazil and comprise a mix of greenfield and brownfield work scopes associated with oil/gas production, storage, production, including maintenance and day-to-day operational support.

The role entails exposure to day-to-day project support in an oil production environment, with the benefit of being involved from an early phase right through to commissioning.

Key requirements:

  • Studying towards a degree in Chemical Engineering (or with significant modules in Chemical Engineering).
  • Demonstrated interest in Project Engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Portuguese language skills useful, but not required.

Who we look for

We are looking for driven, talented undergraduate students who are interested in an exciting, challenging career in the commodities sector.

Working at Glencore requires commercial awareness, adaptability and resilience – and you will need to thrive in team environments as well as take initiative independently.

We look for disciplined people who can demonstrate entrepreneurial ability, thrive on logistical challenges and can provide practical solutions to complex problems using their numerical capabilities.

You must be studying a degree with a year in industry, and successful candidates need to be available to start their placements in July 2026.

Application requirements

You are required to submit a CV and covering letter. Through the use of evidence and examples, your application must demonstrate:

  • Where you have generated additional value by utilising your entrepreneurial flair, commercial innovation or initiative.
  • Your resilience and determination to succeed in a commercial/competitive environment.
  • Your proficiency in solving and communicating complex problems.
  • Your ability to build relationships, work in and influence a team.

Applications close: 05/12/25
