Apprentice Document Controller

I am an Apprentice Document Controller for the Blossom Street Project; Document Control is a key part of the team ensuring the building is constructed correctly by verifying the correct documents are available to the right people at the right time. I began my Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with Skanska in October 2020 and have truly loved every moment.

In my first four months I have learnt how to complete QA checks, manage transmittals, organise files and check drawings/documents.

As a school leaver, I was very nervous going straight into a working environment however Skanska has made my journey into a working career very smooth. Currently working from home, I thought it would be quite isolating and harder to learn, however this has not been the case. My work colleagues and in particular my line manager have made the current climate enjoyable, making me feel relaxed; they always have time for me no matter how small my query.

The support I have received from Skanska is amazing, everyone has made me feel very welcome and part of the Skanska family. Skanska works hard but also plays hard, with online cocktail making, bingo and a Christmas gameshow – the fun never stops!
