Why did you choose to work at STFC?
I have always had a passion for science and research so the chance to begin my career at a world-renowned research organisation has been brilliant. There is plenty of opportunity to mould your career around what you are interested in, and if you work hard and are passionate about your field STFC will support you all the way.
What are your responsibilities?
As the business analyst in the training and events team at the Hartree Centre, I use techniques taught in my Data Science Degree Apprenticeship to analyse and report on our training program.
What is the best thing about being based at the Daresbury Laboratory?
The site is surrounded by countryside which is perfect for lunchtime walks/runs. It’s also a short commute away from both the surrounding areas of Manchester and Liverpool. The weekly Daresbury Laboratory kick about is also a great way to meet colleagues from different teams across site and play some footie!
What makes STFC a great place to work?
If you are passionate about your field, your STFC colleagues will actively support you by sharing their expertise and knowledge.
What training have you received so far?
In addition to the Data Science Degree Apprenticeship, I have been fortunate to attend many of our training courses for UK industry on supercomputing, data analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The level 6 and 7 data science apprentices at the Hartree Centre meet weekly for a study group led by the Artificial Intelligence group lead.
