Degree Apprenticeship
From Apprentice to Head of Experimental Engines and Test ET&S Civil Engineering Operations at Rolls-Royce
Pat’s come a long way from his Apprenticeship to be a senior leader, with a very serious job title and a lot of responsibility.
“My Apprenticeship gave me strong technical foundations, backed up by college learning, and the opportunity to build lasting relationships across the organisation. Over time, that understanding helped me progress through engineering roles, into management, and eventually into a senior leadership position.”
He knew he wanted to challenge himself and reap the rewards of the hard work and effort, but his experience took him further.
“I’ve been fortunate to travel internationally and represent Rolls-Royce globally, opportunities I would never have imagined at the start.”
Pat really credits his Apprenticeship, as being the springboard for his success.
“I started my career with a Rolls-Royce Engineering Apprenticeship, and it completely shaped the path I’ve taken since. Being able to earn while learning gave me confidence early on, and the hands-on experience helped me understand not just my role, but how the wider business really works.”
He’s full of support for anyone considering it.
“I’d encourage you to go for it. It can be the start of a rewarding and long-term career, just as it was for me.”
