We are looking for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineering Student to join our team specializing in Re - Manufacturing for our Power Systems Business Segment in Huddersfield, UK. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2026

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Provide functional support to the team with data analytics related to the projects assigned.
  • Support team with project management and lead own projects.
  • Supports several aspects of a function’s Functional Excellence efforts. (e.g., ergonomics related tasks)
  • This position may provide exposure to multiple Cummins business units and sub-functions within a global environment.
  • Analyse and interpret data to draw conclusions to improve business processes, drive improvements in current processes.
  • Use lean manufacturing tools to identify Waste in process and drive initiatives to reduce / eliminate waste in manufacturing processes.
  • Successfully collaborate with other functions such as: Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, HSE & Planning

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Studying towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree from across all Engineering STEM-related subjects and not graduating this academic year.
  • Preferred Discipline: Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Engineering/ Automotive Engineering.
  • Practical approach to support technical evaluation and ability to manage own challenging projects.
  • Teamwork, ability to work on multiple assignments and within cross functional groups, very well-developed communication skills. PC literacy (Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook).
