BMW UK, National Sales Company, Farnborough – Data & Analytics Internship – 13 Month Placement

We are looking for two students to join our Data & Analytics Centre of Competence (CoC) for 13 months starting in July 2026. This is a diverse and broad role where you will support the CoC in ensuring we continue to drive the business transformation into becoming a truly data driven organisation. The ideal candidates will be passionate about solving problems and want to be involved in using our business data to generate real business value and drive the future direction of our organisation.

What We Do:

  • Understand our business processes and how data relates to these, working alongside a dedicated team of Data Stewards, who represent each business department.
  • Help the business to define the problems they want to solve.
  • Design data solutions to business problems.
  • Develop a single source of truth for business data.
  • Develop data visualisations and data science models.
  • Support the business to generate value from data with self-serve analytics.
  • Protect the quality and integrity of our corporate data.
  • Transform the business data culture and improve their data skills.
  • Look for opportunities to advance our analytics capabilities through AI and Machine Learning.

As an intern in the Data & Analytics Centre of Competence within BMW Group UK, you will split your time across three distinct yet related disciplines. These disciplines are:

  • Data Strategy & Business Transformation
  • Data Governance and Data Management
  • Data Product Management & Pipeline Planning

During your time with us across the three rotations you will lean key skills in:

  • How to establish, plan and deliver projects to help drive the business transformation strategy.
  • Data Governance and Data Management and the critical role it plays in any organisation as it advances its data maturity.
  • Data visualisation techniques using tools such as Qlik Sense and Quicksite.
  • Databases and data warehousing using AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Preparing and modelling data for use in data analytics or AI.
  • Agile project methodology and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • How to manage a data product roadmap in alignment with key stakeholders to understand their priorities and how they have synergy with the overall Data Strategy

What should you bring along?

  • Studying for a degree in computer science, mathematics (or related topic) and on track to achieve a 2:1 or above.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as this role will involve working in partnership with senior stakeholders from around the business.
  • Must have strong A Levels grades in numerical subjects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of Excel, SQL and Python would give you an advantage.
  • Interest in data topics such as data science or data analytics.
  • Ability to work on own initiative (with support/mentoring as required).
  • Outgoing and confident with a professional approach.
  • Must be willing to take on responsibility and deliver to timelines.
